freezing Peanut Butter and Jam ?
during the summer/fall of 2008, while i was burying some of my caches
i decided to throw in some small containers of PB & J i took the jam out of the glass jar and put it into a tupperware thingy has anyone ever tried to freeze peanut butter and/or jam ? and what were the results ? |
Re: freezing Peanut Butter and Jam ?
Haven't you heard of freezer jam? I know many people who swear by it. Basically, it is minimally cooked, then frozen for preservation. The flavor and nutrients are preserved better than if it were canned. Now, you're freezing already canned jam, but there's nothing wrong with that. As long as you keep it from freezer burn, it should be of the same quality as before you froze it.
I've never frozen PB before, you might need to heat and stir it really well when you go to eat it, but it should freeze just fine. |
Re: freezing Peanut Butter and Jam ?
Peanut butter is a non-food to begin with, but I don't see how freezing it could make it worse. A quick search for aflatoxin will tell you why not to eat it. Plus PB oil is often rancid. If it has sugar and hydrogenated oils, then it is cancer in a jar.

Re: freezing Peanut Butter and Jam ?
Costco has a nice organic PB, just peanuts and a little salt. I like it much better than Jiffy, etc. Haven't eaten any PB in probably 18mo, though.
